Spicy tomato soup

Since there is no paleo tomato soup in the stores I had to make my own. Found this recipe on the foodee project. It is by livinpaleo. Of course I changed it a little cuz that’s how I roll. Enjoy!

Olive oil
1 onion
2 garlic cloves
2-28 oz can whole peeled tomatoes
2 cups vegetable broth
1 tsp dried thyme
1 Tbs dried basil
1-2 pinches crushed red pepper flakes
Salt and pepper to taste
3/4 oz fresh basil

Chop onions finely
Heat medium stockpot over medium heat
Mince garlic
Add oil to pot
Add onions to heated oil and cook until softened
Add garlic to pot and cook until fragrant
Add tomatoes
Add vegetable broth add all seasoning except fresh basil and stir well
Reduce heat to low and cook 45 minutes stirring occasionally
Let cool a little and process until smooth in batches in a food processor
Chiffonade the basil and serve on warmed soup
